Purpose:
The purpose of this resource, is to provide teachers and home school facilitators with information
pertaining to the CBS Primary Mathematics Test Preparation Course Grades 1-6.
Introduction:
This course is organised by grade from grade 1 to 6. Each grade consists of 10 papers and
each paper consists of 40 questions which are completed first in ‘Practice mode’, then in
‘Test mode’ as a timed test which is designed to simulate real test conditions.
Key features in practice mode:
• Students can revise at their own pace.
• Immediate feedback is provided for all incorrect answers.
• Full navigation control – students can ANSWER a question, skip to the NEXT question, go
back to the PREVIOUS question, or REPLAY the current question.
• Includes ‘SHOW ME’ feature which provide a more detailed explanation of a math term, for
example the word “Set” and how a specific type of question is worked out i.e. addition,
subtraction, perimeter or area of a rectangle…etc.
• On-line primary math DICTIONARY which can be accessed anytime during the lessons
At the end of practice mode, students can choose from the following options.
1. Continue practice and review the paper again
2. Take the test
Key features in test mode:
Test instructions provided, the test is timed (1.5 hours), and the test timer is shown in the top
right-hand corner of the screen when the test begins.
Should the student run out of time they will be alerted by a prompt and will not be allowed to
answer any further questions.
During the test there is no feedback on answers and students do not have the options to REPLAY
the current question, or go back to PREVIOUS questions.
Student can choose to not answer (skip) questions and at the end of the test they are given the
option to retake those questions if they are still within the allotted time. However, unanswered
questioned are not scored, so the student’s score will be based on those that they have answered
prior to timeout.
At the end of the test students can choose from the following options:
3. Retry the questions that they did not answer (skipped), within the allotted time remaining
4. See their test results
5. Review the questions that they did not answer correctly
6. Print their test results
7. Continue practice and review the paper again
8. Close the lesson.
