Purpose:
The purpose of this Teacher resource, is to provide teachers and home school facilitators
with information pertaining to modules and lessons within the CBS ePrimary series on
Information and Communications Technology Grades 1-6.
This course provides a balanced approach to teaching ICT, ensuring students gain both
technical skills and an understanding of the ethical and social implications of technology. It is
culturally relevant, particularly so for Caribbean and African students, and it can be used by
teachers and home school facilitators, as a complimentary blended learning resource for
teaching ICT at the primary level. It is highly interactive and offers cross curriculum links to
enhance the student learning experience.
During the course students are introduced to elementary concepts of S.T.E.M, Coding,
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
To aid the learning process and improve retention and recall, there are quiz questions at
various intervals during the lessons, and since educational research suggests that
gamification encourages small wins that help motivate students academic and social learning,
some degree of gamification is introduced and students can collect badges for correct
responses to quiz questions during the lessons, whilst being provided with immediate
additional feedback when they have answered a question.
The badges are collected virtually as they would be in an online computer game, in addition
to which, teachers/home school facilitators, may choose to offer students with other types
of rewards.
