Making cross-curricular connections with STEM & STEM Kits.
At Centricity, one of our key aims is to develop courses for young students that make cross-
curricular connections such as digital competency and numeracy, so our courses complement lessons
and exercises undertaken by students who are using STEM Kits such as those from Maker’s Red
Box, PI TSCO Education and SAM LABS. For example, practice exercises completed during the ICT
modules on Coding complements SAM LABS coding in the SAM LABS STEAM Maker Kit.

Students are also provided with real world examples that explain the day-to-day application and use
of computer technologies such as, the use of Supercomputers to tell us when a hurricane is coming,
how technology companies like FLOW use mainframe computers, how does a furniture store like
COURTS use a mini computer, where do we use computers in an airplane and who uses them.
Accessibility
At Centricity, we aim to make our courses accessible to a wide range of learners and during course
development we take care to include features that facilitates learning for students with special needs.
For example, the use of video and audio, a range of colours, contrast and font sizes and a level of
interactivity that gives the student greater control over their progression through the lessons.
